One of Britain’s most diverse percussionists, Joby Burgess is best known for his virtuosic, often lissom performances, daring collaborations and extensive education work. He regularly appears in concert halls throughout Europe, the USA and beyond. Both in the studio and on the road Joby Burgess works with artists such as Peter Gabriel, Eric Whitacre, Graham Fitkin, Gabriel Prokofiev, Will Gregory and John Lunn.
The Pioneers of Percussion programme brings together pioneering solo works from the most innovative and creative composers of the 20th Century, three world premieres and classic pieces by Feldman, Xenakis, Takemitsu and Pärt.
Sound Junction is a unique experience whereby electroacoustic music is diffused across a multi-channel speaker system surrounding the audience. Hear the cutting edge of electronic music in performances of pieces composed at the University of Sheffield Sound Studios, here in the Department of Music.
